Do Superhumans Exist?

This song helped me write this, please listen while you read if you can.

Looking at all of the people in the world and what some of them have accomplished it’s hard to believe there weren’t some superpowers involved.

Day 6 of Self-Discipline, everything we touch, every tool we use, everything we see, eat, hear and learn. All of it was discovered by another human. We live in an ever-changing world because of the self-disciplined people around us and those who came before us.

This should bring us hope! The people you see as successful, intelligent, beautiful, productive etc. They are just like you. We all go through different struggles and different times but in the end, we can all make a difference if we want to.

I told a friend yesterday, “I know that I am meant for more than what I am doing now.”

His response was, “You won’t know unless you make the most of what you’re doing now first.”

And he’s right, we shouldn’t waste time waiting for the right thing to come along. We have to do what we’re doing right now the best we possibly can. And then we grow. We have to pay attention to what is right in front of us before we can jump into the future we think we want.

I look at inventors, developers, business owners, writers, fitness models, singers, builders, and designers in awe. I have to do a double-take and remember they didn’t just wave a magic wand, get bit by the talent bug or come down from another planet (that we know of…). They worked hard. They made the most of their experiences. They asked questions. They challenged themselves. They made mistakes. They learned from their mistakes. And ultimately, they did something awesome. It gives us dreamers and goal-setters something to study and something to strive for.

So, unfortunately, superhumans do not exist in the flying, super strength, web throwing kind of way. But if we take the time to do what we do, the best we possibly can, I believe we can become super humans.

So do what you do today, to the best of your ability! Because you know you can. <3

Quotes Self-Discipline

We’re Not Perfect

I’ve realized today, I am too much of a perfectionist to write about something for ten minutes and be happy with it. I chose a topic 3 or 4 different times to write about and either got interrupted…so my thoughts got interrupted or I think to myself, “This sounds dumb, reset the clock.”
One reason I like to blog is because it challenges me. It tests my creativity, my writing, my thought process and other things I didn’t even realize, like my perfectionism.  I don’t like to fail, I hate the feeling of looking dumb or being judged and that is just stupid because the fact is this, it is going to happen. There is a 100% chance I am going to fail, I am going to be wrong, I am going to look like a complete idiot at some point, perhaps more than once a day. I just need to (wo)man up and deal with the fact that I can’t be perfect. I catch myself sometimes with that feeling deep in my stomach like someone is in there punching or squeezing something to remind me, “hey, you might be wrong” “you can do better” “why the hell did you just say that?” “you totally had food in your teeth for that whole conversation” then finally my brain catches up and is all like, “Kelli, you’re fine. You are human. You are overthinking this.”
So ladies and gents, I am not perfect and neither are you. So let’s be wrong , let’s fail, let’s look like an idiot because in the long run those moments won’t matter, they will fade, and having experienced those bad times we will appreciate the moments we are right, the times we succeed, and the times we feel like we are on top of the world even more.
